The Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) has launched on 24 July 2022 a new facility at Tampines.

The CDEConnect centre will be a touchpoint for both migrant domestic workers (MDWs) and their employers on matters pertaining to domestic employment.

Minister of State for Manpower (MOM) Gan Siow Huang was present at the launch. She was accompanied by CDE Chairman Yeo Guat Kwang, who gave a tour of the facility.

Ms Gan said that the launch of the centre demonstrates the Government’s strong commitment to support MDWs and their employers.

She added that by building an ecosystem of support, MDWs and their employers will be able to deepen their relationship and work together harmoniously.

“We are working with CDE on a third centre, and will share more details in due course,” she said.

Through CDEConnect, CDE will conduct interviews with all first-time MDWs within the first six months of their work to assess how they are adjusting to living and working in Singapore.

The interviews will be conducted in the MDWs' native languages.

Should there be any issues or concerns raised, CDE and MOM will work with both the MDW and their employer to resolve the matter.

Additionally, the centre will also serve as a dedicated space where MDWs can rest and recharge through various recreational activities and workshops during the weekends, according to Mr Yeo.

“MDWs have been providing support to many of our families so that employers are able to work with a peace of mind. We should ensure that our MDWs are well taken care of as they adjust to life and work in Singapore,” he said.
